PORTRAITS
I like to draw portraits of the pioneers and colleagues I admire. In 1993, the Musée d'Art Contemporain in Lyon held an exhibition entitled Et Tous Ils Changent le Monde, which spotlighted groundbreaking artists. I was asked to draw portraits of my favorite artists, such as Kurt Schwitters, to adorn the nearby Metro station. I also drew portraits for the Champaka gallery in Brussels, such as Groucho (‘Whatever it is, I'm against it’) Marx, Buster Keaton and Jacques Tati. I have also drawn portraits of fellow artists Ever Meulen, Chris Ware and Robert Crumb. For my children’s book about De Stijl I drew portraits of ten of the movement’s artists.
