THE NEW YORKER COVERS

I work on The New Yorker covers with art director Françoise Mouly. She and her husband Art Spiegelman were the initiators of alternative comics magazines Raw and Little Lit, both of which featured my work. The cover ‘The Mouse of Wall Street’ from 2015 is a unique one: the American stock markets were dropping as a result of China’s stock market crash. By the time I’d sent in the illustration, Wall Street was on the rebound. The mouse on the cover I’d sent in was gazing at the Chinese cat in fright. I drew it over, with it now jumping up in shock.
