THE NEW YORKER ILLUSTRATIONS
Illustrating an article in The New Yorker begins with reading it. Often, up to three times. I try to express the article’s essence in a single illustration. This is never done literally; it’s always my interpretation. I often make several sketches from different points of view and then discuss them with art editor Chris Curry. The New Yorker articles are extremely well-written and after working so intensively on them, they remain imprinted in my memory.
